Can't get gazette to display other RSS feeds

I can't get gazette to display news from any other source than the preconfigured BBC RSS. I tried

http://www.spiegel.de/schlagzeilen/index.rss
http://rssfeed.sueddeutsche.de/c/795/f/449002/index.rss
http://news.google.de/news?pz=1&cf=all&ned=de&hl=de&topic=h&num=3&output=rss

None worked.

What gives?

That is true.

Gazette depends on a specific encoding of the RSS feed xml file.

We have to do it more dynamic. and automaticly recognize different encoding styles.

Hi,

could you give me a hint which style that would be? Maybe I can find
other versions of the feeds I mentioned, but right now I wouldn't know
what to search for.

Hacker News rss https://news.ycombinator.com/rss doesn't work either. When clicked to news there is garbage instad of urls in browser address bar.

I tried to display some rss, and analyzing the terminal output, gazette returned a unicode error, because my rss feed has unicode characters UTF-8.

I've read the code where the rss parsing is done, it is kind of hardcoded. So here is my idea (couldn't find a Vala rss parser):
I'm thinking python's feedparser (https://pythonhosted.org/feedparser/) could be used for parsing the rss feed calling a small python script that outputs the relevant information in a convenient way and read it from there. What do you think?
