Bug Description

If I attach my HDMI cable to my notebook with Ubuntu 13.04, I can not use the HDMI sound output. But my monitor/graphics (on the other end of the HDMI cable) works. I just do not see the HDMI sound output item in Settings -> Sound Settings (Play sound through). Only the notebook's built in speakers are shown here.

HDMI cable and speaker are working (Tested it with Windows 7).

I tried this without success: http://askubuntu.com/a/287487/175489
Short story:
I downloaded from ALSA Launchpad the package: oem-audio-hda-daily-dkms_0.201307180559~raring1_all.deb. Then installed it and rebooted. No success. Again reinstalled the package via Ubuntu Software Center. No success.

Follow workaround 1 here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alsa-driver/+bug/864735

Let us know if it works after reboot.

Thank you, workaround 1 worked for me to fix the audio problem:

=== Workaround 1 ===

Edit /etc/default/grub and change this line:

GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash"

to this line

GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash radeon.audio=1"

Now run "sudo update-grub", then reboot your computer.
