Lose Bluetooth At Gnome Start

Bug Description

I have been using a Logitech diNovo bluetooth keyboard on Ubuntu 7.04 for some time. I am using the bluetooth USB dongle to connect the keyboard and mouse combo to my system.

It seems that when the system is booting, the keyboard works perfectly fine. I have noticed that as soon as Gnome is loaded, the keyboard and mouse are no longer connected.

To resolve this issue, I have been removing the USB dongle from the USB port and plugging it back in to another USB port.

Any ideas?

Yes, this is still an issue.

To reiterate:

Once the system has been booted and the Gnome login screen is displayed, I lose my Bluetooth keyboard+mouse functionality. The only way to resolve this issue is by removing the USB Bluetooth dongle and plugging it into a different USB port (for some reason, when I plug it into the same port, the issue is not fixed).

The odd part I have noticed is that for a few seconds after the login screen is displayed, both the keyboard and mouse work fine but then suddenly stop and that is when I have to remove and re-insert the USB dongle.

Could you please add your '/var/log/messages' file after experiencing this issue? It would be great if you could unplug it, plug it in the same USB port and then plug it in a different USB port. Thanks again!

Here it is. I rebooted and at the login screen, lost BT connectivity. Unplugged then plugged BT adapter into same USB port. Nothing. Moved to a different port, works fine.

I also remember in the past, after logging in, the BT would lose connectivity again, and again, I would have to plug the USB into a different port. So I had to repeat the same process to regain functionality.

The link posted above states that by removing the bluez package, the DiNovo set will work fine (without having to remove and re-insert the USB Bluetooth dongle).

I can confirm that this is true. After removing that package, I am no longer having this issue.

This leads me to believe that I no longer have Bluetooth support on my system and the keyboard and mouse are working because the dongle is programmed to work w/o a Bluetooth driver (hence the reason why I can enter and edit my CMOS options whenever needed or change boot options).
