Bug Description

I had a new MSI laptop installed ubuntu 13.04(kernel 3.8 and 3.9).
It hot-key "Fn+F10"(turn on/off) does not work. I debug i8042, and no scancode presented.

However, I change kernel to 3.2( or 3.5) it's hot-key works and i can get scancode (e076, e062).

Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest v3.10 kernel[0].

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag: 'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, for example it will not boot, please add the tag: 'kernel-unable-to-test-upstream'.
Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as "Confirmed".

Thanks in advance.

linux-image-3.7.5-030705-generic_3.7.5-030705.201301280206_amd64.deb

It works in kernel (3.5.7, 3.6, 3.6.11).
It does not work in kernel (3,7.0rc1 and below).

Another thing, Fn+F2(Scancode: 0xe0 0x56 0xe0 0xd6) also can't be catched by i8042 and "showkey" in kernel (3.5 - 3.7), but it work well in kernel 3.8 and 3.10

Hope the infomation is usful...

Sorry everyone.

It is bios problem.
The MSI's BIOS check kernel 3.7 as Win8, then does not send any scancode out.

After I updated bios, everything work well.
