Bug Description

Binary package hint: nvtv

I've installed nvtv and everytime I want to start it by typing "nvtv" into a console, I get the following message:

"Fatal: Cannot access video cards. Either you are not root, or the
NVidia devices are not accessible."

Then I try "sudo nvtv" and the following message occurrs:

"Segmentation fault (core dumped)"

I've got a GeForce2 MX/MX 400 which worked fine with nvtv under Dapper. It doesn't matter whether I use the "nv" driver or the closed "nvidia" driver. The result remains the same.

My xorg.conf is the following:

# nvidia-xconfig: X configuration file generated by nvidia-xconfig
# nvidia-xconfig: version 1.0 (buildmeister@builder3) Thu Nov 9 17:55:20 PST 2006

Similar problem with me. I am running a fully updated Gutsy, using the "Nvidia (latest)" binary driver for a GeForce Go 7400 on a Samsung X11-T5500 notebook.

- When I start "Nvtv TV Out" via the applications menue, nothing happens at all - the UI does not start and you get no error message whatsoever (= bug in the UI).
- user@notebook:~$ nvtv [RETURN] Fatal: No supported video card found. (= looks like a bug in the program itself)

Same problem as markus31's: the GUI launcher won't do a thing. Trying to launch via "sudo nvtv" results in "Fatal: No supported video card found."
I'm running Hardy, fully patched with a GeForce 7600 GT

When you start nvtv in a terminal window, and get:

Fatal: No supported video card found

It's because of this: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvtv/+bug/197548
