i encountered thiS problem after i upgraded into 12.10. there were no GUIs. i read alots of solution on the previous threads And whenever i try to attempt solving the problem accordingly over terminal window it says "unmet dependencies". i tried to install -f
and this i what it says:

You may need to run the following:

sudo apt-get install -f
sudo apt-get clean
sudo apt-get update

Then re-apply the updates.
