Menu bar still showing after reboot

Bug Description

The menu bar stays showing after some reboots but not all on my frontend boxes. I'm running Mythbuntu 12.10. It really seems to be hit or miss. It doesn't seem to matter if it's a reboot or a start from a powered off state. If I close mythfrontend and restart it from the menu the menu bar is hidden like it should be. I'm assuming it's a race condition but I don't really know where to start debugging.

Can someone verify if this still happens on 0.27.4? I am unable to reproduce this.

Yes, I can confirm that. I’m running mythbuntu 14.04 with mythtv v0.27.4-14-gec06dfb. Nvidia 8300 to HDMI and 304 driver.

In 0.27.2 with a ‘fresh’ database the bug was absent, but it re-emerged when I imported a 0.25 database.

I now find that the settings in the FE setup > appearance > Theme/Screen settings are crucial.

The bug is PRESENT on my setup with settings of Paint =Qt, Menu theme default, GUI width 1920, height 1080, offsets zero, Use GUI for playback YES, hide mouse NO,use window boarder NO, always on top NO, Airplay NO.

It is ABSENT if I change GUI width/height both to zero.

HTH
Thanks for looking at this.

What if you change to the opengl themepainter?

You are currently using the Qt themepainter (according to what you
posted of paint=Qt). Can you change that from Qt to Opengl and see if
the issue persists?

Done that.
Swapped to 'development' disk (also Mythbuntu 14.04) and did 'apt-get update' and 'apt-get upgrade'.

Results
QT & GUI sizes=zero: bug absent
QT & Gui=1920x1080: Bug present
OpenGL & GUI=zero bug absent
OpenG & GUI=1920x1080 bug present.

ie switch to OpnGL makes no difference.

Regards
Phil
