Bug Description
Binary package hint: grub
This bug is marked as private because it affects unreleased hardware. This bug occurred when I testing Feisty Desktop IA32e on a Santa Rosa machine with the following specs:
Santa Rosa CRB
Crestline(B0) ICH8M(B0)
Merom(B1) 2.0GHz
EM64T 4M 667MHz
2048M DDR2 667
80G Sata
I use manually partitioning during the installation, and select (hd0) as the destination for install GRUB. But after installation, the system cannot boot up from the hard disk directly. So I must insert the Feisty install CD and select "Boot from the first hard disk" to boot into Feisty.

Hi Xiaoyang,
I assume you installed using the Live CD. It would be helpful if you could attach the installer log to this bug report. You may need to repeat the install if you no longer have access to the installed partition. See details on attaching installer logs here: https:/ /wiki.ubuntu. com/DebuggingUb iquity/ AttachingLogs
Thanks!
