pidgin 2.0.1 has been released which is a bug-fix release. http://pidgin.im/pidgin/home/ Hopefully we can have this one in feisty.

This would be GREAT indeed! I'm using 2.0.1 and the update manager is a bit annoying .. actually downgrading pidgin.
Please do something about it.

i agree. 2.0.1 has tons of bugfixes because of 2.0 had tons of changes in core. Can it be done?

Yeah, Pidgin 2.0.2 would be great since it fixes the Jabber transfer bug.
But I think it is important that it is shipped with Gutsy. Feisty users can install the deb from Getdeb http://www.getdeb.net/app.php?name=Pidgin imho.

Has this package been declined for Gutsy because no one has the time to make the package? I'm currently going through the Debian policy on .deb packages and would like to give this package a try if the case is no one has the time.

The gutsy upstream is busted ATM (2.0.2), workaround to the problem, (amd64) use the upure64 repo until fixed.
