Bug Description
When using a VirtualBox guest in full screen, and wanting to switch back to my desktop, I hit right-Ctrl to give control of mouse and keyboard back to the host. But when I then Alt-Tab, the switcher is not visible.
Also, same thing when I minimize the VirtualBox guest: I see the VirtualBox window being minimized, only to pop up a second later, although that window is not in focus (I see the host mouse cursor), because hitting Alt-Tab once brings up the window again (though with absence of the switcher).
The latter is especially confusing and frustrating.
For a reference of how the integration works smoothly, it is worth going back to older releases of Ubuntu running Gnome (i.e. prior to Unity running Gnome 2, I have not tried it with 3). There the integration is smooth as butter.

Sometimes also, for no reason, while Alt-Tabbing in the guest, the host takes control and without knowing it, I switch to another window on the host.
