thunderbird crashes/stall x-server

Bug Description

4 GB RAM, dual core CPU, Lubuntu 13.04. Starting thunderbird sometimes crashes/stalls x-server and completely freezes CPU. Have to restart with on/off button.

does this occur also when you start TB in safe-mode? you can do this from the command line with "thunderbird -safe-mode"

I cannot recall where I saw the reference, but there is some known problem with the Nvidia nouveau packages; apparently, switching to Nvidia current would fix this. I have actually stopped using that version of Lubuntu with Firefox & Thunderbird. The HDD was wiped, and a lightweight remix of 12.04 from Remastersys with the Equinox desktop (EDE) and the pekwm window manager was installed. Personal files were reinstalled from back-up, of course. :)

The X-server just freezing does not occur in this distro.
