Pinta is not in "Open With" menu of pictures

When I click on a image to open image with pinta, I cannot see pinta in the menu. Please use following Exec line in pinta.desktop file:

Exec=pinta %F

rather than

Exec=pinta

   file leads to pinta not being registered as an image handler.
 * The fix is to upload a commit made upstream in 1.4

 * Open Nautilus
 * Visit a folder containing a jpg file
 * right-click on the jpg file and choose "Open with"

 * The lack of %F was just an omission that upstream rectified and we
   should, too

In Ubuntu Raring (13.04) Pinta (v. 1.3-2) does not appear in the context menu when you right-click on an image file. It is not listed among 'Other applications' either. Looks like it is not registered as application in the system. If this problem has already been fixed in v. 1.4 please advise how to install 1.4 in Raring. Thanks.

There is a stable PPA (https://launchpad.net/~pinta-maintainers/+archive/pinta-stable), but we currently don't have builds for Raring (we're close to releasing 1.5, at which point I'll update the stable PPA). You could use the daily builds PPA (https://launchpad.net/~pinta-maintainers/+archive/pinta-daily) in the meantime.

I'm not in charge of packaging Pinta for the official repos, and it's unlikely that a new release of Pinta will be backported to 14.04. You can use the stable builds PPA though

1.6 isn't a release of Ubuntu, but a version of the package, which appears to be in Vivid and Wily. What we are looking for is for someone to test the version of the package in -updates for Utopic.
