Bug Description

I'm using a MacBookPro 8.1 with BCM4331 and it's linux driver b43.
After upgrading to Ubuntu Raring with kernel 3.8.0-19 my wirless network device is nearly unusable.

List of issues:
- After suspend the wireless network connection doesn't go online again. The known network isn't found without changing the distance to the wireless network router.
- Sometimes after reboot the wireless network connection doesn't go online without changing the distance or place
- iwlist scanning shows only 25% or less of all physical available networks. Wireless network performance is bad.

I'm using the old kernel 3.5.0-27 from Quantal Quetzal again and the wirless network is working fine again. None of the issues above are present.

Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest v3.9 kernel[0].

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag: 'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, for example it will not boot, please add the tag: 'kernel-unable-to-test-upstream'.
Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as "Confirmed".

Thanks in advance.

Same issues with that kernel.

The latest kernel which works with my MacBook WLAN Card is: https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/precise/+source/linux-lts-quantal or all older kernel releases. This kernel is not affected by the Sandybridge bugs or WLAN bugs.

aubergine, thank you for testing the newest mainline kernel. The next step would be to bisect from Quantal to Raing, in order to identify the commit that caused this regression. Could you please do this following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/KernelBisection ?
