Why status is changed to Incomplete. ?

Tell the the procedure to take the logs. I can take it and update here.
I can also start debugging if possible.

Thanks

The logs indicate that you encounter a GPU hang, for which I need the /sys/kernel/debug/dri/0/i915_error_state to diagnose.

After reproducing the issue.

This is what the log contains. "/sys/kernel/debug/dri/0/i915_error_state"

"no error state collected"

 :(
Any other log ?

Can you attach the Xorg.0.log and dmesg from the session where you experience the freeze? I want to be sure I am reading the logs that correlate with the freeze.

Can you describe the freeze in more detail? Does the system pause for a few seconds then proceed, or is the system unrecoverable and does not even respond to pings?

Hi

 These are the steps...
 1) I take a terminal
 2) execute the commad "sudo shutdown -r now"
 3) It when to black screen. and these are the logs printed

"The system is going down for reboot now !
  acpid: exiting
  speech dispatcher disabled; edit /etc/default/speech-dispatcher"

 4) It is hanging there. nothing is printed after that.

So.. I press the power button, system when for shutdown, then again switch
it on by pressing the power button.
At this state is this possible to get the all these logs "Xorg.0.log and
dmesg", my concern "Is this log will get over-written"

Regards
Azad

If it is hanging during system shutdown, then it is not an issue with the Xserver as it has already exited by that point. So upstart or kernel?

affects: xserver-xorg-video-intel (Ubuntu) → upstart (Ubuntu)
summary: - Xorg freeze
+ System hang during shutdown
