Bug Description

Release of Ubuntu: 13.04 - 25/04/2013
Package Version: 1.3+bzr1461+dfsg-0ubuntu2
Expected Results: When pressing the "Import boot images" an ETA should be displayed showing how much time it need to download the images.
Actual Results: When pressing the "Import boot images" a message appears at the top saying

"Import of boot images started on all cluster controllers. Importing the boot images can take a long time depending on the available bandwidth"

I consider this is unfriendly and provides not very accurate information, if the download actually fails the user won't know it.

Testcase
-----------

1.- Install maas maas-dhcp maas-dns
$ sudo apt-get install maas maas-dhcp maas-dns
2.- Create an admin user
$ sudo maas createsuperuser
3.- Login using
http://localhost/MAAS
4.- Go to the Settings section
http://localhost/MAAS/settings/
5.- Press "Import boot images"

ETAs are pretty worthless because they are grossly unreliable. A better way, initially, is to show whether something is in progress or has finished downloading. Going beyond that to show the % downloaded, for example, is quite a lot of work.

summary: - The Web MAAS interface should show an ETA of how much time it requires
- to download boot images
+ Web UI has no indication of image download status.

A progress indicator would be great here! As it stands, the command disappears into a black hole and there's no way to know how it's coming along. The 'import started...' message even disappears if one navigates away then back to the webpage.

Yes @Javier,
There is no indication that the images are getting imported and I'm pissed off with that by sitting 48 hours by keeping my server ON.

I solved that problem by executing the below commands.

Restart your server or desktop.
Install nload or network load indicator by:
$sudo apt-get nload

now run nload by:
$nload

You can see a screen with almost empty incoming and empty outgoing.

Now click on Import Images in MAAS.

Hope this helps.
You can see the network load now to see the progress.
