Bug Description

I have installed three times and it wont work on my desktop, even though I installed the Lovefilm desktop and it worked fine. I assume it uses the same resources. Not sure. Also after the app fails to work it seems to affect my video until I reboot. Hulu or youtube will become real choppy.
I am not very good at using terminal and need exact instructions and copy and paste so after three tries installing I had the system messed up so bad it wouldnt run right, so I had to erase and re install ubuntu.
The system is built on a Intell system board P4 3.2ghz, 2g ram. The video is on board and I dont know about it. The resolution is 1024x768 I think, if that matters

That's odd that you'd have trouble with Netflix and not Lovefilm, especially since I've had reports that Lovefilm stopped working. I'm not sure there's much I can suggest since you're using onboard graphics, the Intel driver generally works pretty well.

I'm getting something similar after a failed upgrade to the xserver-xorg-core-lts-quantal and xserver-xorg-video-intel-lts-quantal packages in precise-updates. After reverting to the older xorg driver and xorg-core, Silverlight's plugin-container crashes when I try to play a video using netflix-desktop. The screen goes black and I have to jump to the terminal and "killall firefox.exe" to get the black screen to go away. I can still alt+tab to other applications while Firefox is frozen at a black fullscreen, so using a GUI app to kill the process would work equally well.

Would it be possible for you to try on a new install or from a live CD? It sounds like you're having a driver issue that would be pretty difficult to replicate.

Well, I'm not entirely sure what's going on here - but I suspect it's a driver issue. I'm going to mark this as a duplicate of bug #1104373, which is the catch-all bug for "black screen" issues.
