Bug Description
Binary package hint: partman-lvm
During the Ubuntu 7.04 Server install (AMD64 architecture), I have noticed that creating an LVM logical volume causes approximately a 3 minute delay with the following error messages showing up in the log:
May 12 18:04:05 partman-lvm: /dev/hda: open failed: Read-only file system
May 12 18:04:05 partman-lvm: Attempt to close device '/dev/hda' which is not open.
May 12 18:07:07 partman-lvm: Rendezvous with udev timed out for 'vg0-swap'; stat failed: No such file or directory
May 12 18:07:07 partman-lvm: Logical volume "swap" created
This same pattern repeats for each logical volume created, and has happened for me both during automatic and manual LVM partitioning. I have also tried it under both the normal and expert modes of the server installation.
Note that on this particular system, there is a single SATA hard drive installed (recognized as device /dev/sda), and that /dev/hda is actually a DVD-ROM drive.
I can confirm this also happens on our system with a very similar setup.
