Thank you for the bug report. Also, please answer these questions:

* Is this crash reproducible?
* If so, which are the steps that lead to it?

This will greatly help us in tracking down your problem.

I have the same problem. I also reported it once (but it was marked as a duplicate of this bug), and got another bug this morning. This bug is hardly reproducible, as it happens - at least in my case - at kde startup. The only thing I can think of that might be the cause is: at those two startups I turned on my machine, let it boot, at than didn't log in at once at the kubuntu login screen. The computer sat there for about 30 minutes. I'll try to experiment with that a bit, and report back.

same problem as above. Don't think this is reproducible as it happen at kde startup.

Yes. I tried to reproduce it (with letting it stand for a few hours at the login screen), but to no avail.

It would be great if someone could install debugging symbols (see https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProgramCrash ) and wait for the crash to happen again. If the bug report as more detail, please attach it here. Thank you.

Certainly. Only one more thing... I know this forum is not a support group, but I guess I'll get my answer most promptly here. Bear with me. I tried installing debug symbols via the instructions on the link, but I couldn't find any package kdeinit-dbgsym or similar. Could someone please point me in the right direction?

Thanks, and sorry.

I don't know exactly but I guess kdebase-dbg , kdebase-bin-dbgsym, kdelibs4c2a-dbgsym , kdelibs-dbg should be a good start.
