Composite extension

Feisty Fawn,

When I attempt to enable the "Desktop Effects" on my fresh out of the box edition of Feisty Fawn I get an error stating "The Composite extension is not available". Is there something that you can do to help? It is a new instalation and everything went all right. As far as I know, I am running gnome. Please help me get all of the wonderful eye candy that you worked so hard to implement on your new release.

In order to attempt to run desktop effects I use the following path: System > Preferences > Desktop Effects

I then receive the error: "The Composite extension is not available"

What video card do you have? if you don't know , attach here the output of lscpi command.

I have an onboard video card. It's an ATI X200.

Hello Francisco,

Your card not have 3d aceleration in opensource drivers that comes with Ubuntu.
first you should install the ati propietary drivers: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BinaryDriverHowto/ATI
Then you should install xgl: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/CompositeManager/Xgl

This should help alot. Ill sit down and try to debug now that I have an
idea of where to start. I'm very new to the Ubuntu community and I don't
have very much knowledge about coding and open source OS as it is, however
anything is better than Windows. Thanks for the feedback.
