Evince opens only the first page of a postscript file

I don't know if this is related to the other problem with postscript files but I have this problem:
when evince opens a ps file it displays only the first page stating 1 of 1 as page's number in the widget pane. No crash or "loading" message is displayed.

The archive is divided in chapters .ps files.
I have this versions installed (after the upgrade from edgy:
ii gs-common 0.3.11ubuntu1 Common files for different Ghostscript releases
ii gs-esp 8.15.4.dfsg.1-0ubuntu1 The Ghostscript PostScript interpreter - ESP version
ii gs-esp-x 8.15.4.dfsg.1-0ubuntu1 The Ghostscript PostScript interpreter - ESP version
