Evince doesn't recognize PostScript pages correctly

Bug Description

For both 5.10 (Breezy) and Dapper of 2005-2-20:

When opening http://www.cs.huji.ac.il/labs/learning/Theses/danar.phd.ps.gz with evince, it says there is only one page. Playing with scrollwheel a bit can bring us to next pages, but Evince insists that the total document contains 1 page.

ps2pdf can make an Evince-readable pdf of this document.

I am still having this bug in Ubuntu 7.10 (evince 2.20.1-0ubuntu1). According to evince http://arxiv.org/ps/0801.4208 has only 2 pages, but gv reports 5 pages.

I can confirm that in Intrepid: evince opens phd.ps as a single page (page 34), while the result of ps2pdf has 189 pages

Interestingly, on Karmic, the PS document Guilhem linked to is read correctly by Evince (i.e. all 5 pages are shown correctly).

Also, I'm not able to scroll around to get to the next (or previous) page for the PS document linked in the original description. Evince only shows the last page and insists that it's the only page in the whole document.

I'm going to mark this bug as a duplicate of bug 550440.
