Below is the output from doing 'hp-check'

Note: hp-check can be run in three modes:
1. Compile-time check mode (-c or --compile): Use this mode before compiling the
HPLIP supplied tarball (.tar.gz or .run) to determine if the proper dependencies
are installed to successfully compile HPLIP.
2. Run-time check mode (-r or --run): Use this mode to determine if a distro
supplied package (.deb, .rpm, etc) or an already built HPLIP supplied tarball
has the proper dependencies installed to successfully run.
3. Both compile- and run-time check mode (-b or --both) (Default): This mode
will check both of the above cases (both compile- and run-time dependencies).

Check types:
a. EXTERNALDEP - External Dependencies
b. GENERALDEP - General Dependencies (required both at compile and run time)
c. COMPILEDEP - Compile time Dependencies
d. [All are run-time checks]

Now, when I use Xsane image scanning program or Skanlite the error I recieve is:

Failed to open device `hpaio:/usb/Officejet_Pro_L7600?serial=MY72N250WF`; End of file reached.

Obviously, what I would like to happen is it scans, but it does not...I have tried Simple scan as well-no dice...
The HPlip software works in every other way. Printing, aligning heads, cleaning heads, etc. Am desperate for a solution. My friend is extreme tech and he installed OS with VMware and it is baffling him.

Please Help!

Hi,

Solution 1:-

     $ ls -l /usr/lib/sane/libsane-hpaio*
     --> if no files present

    $ ls -l /usr/lib64/sane/libsane-hpaio*
     --> file present, then copy into /usr/lib/sane folder as follows.

    $ sudo cp /usr/lib64/sane/libsane-hpaio* /usr/lib/sane/

If above solution doesn't work, can you please run following command and provide more logs to analyse further.

$sudo cp /dev/null >/var/log/syslog
$ hp-scan -g 2>&1 |tee scan.log

Send us "/var/log/syslog", scan.log files.

Thanks & Regards,
Amarnath
