Bug Description
Synaptic crashes on every start (flicker of a window and then crash), fresh install Linux Mint Nadia MATÉ 14. No error message when started from the terminal with sudo.
apt-get update && upgrade && dist-upgrade works but does not fix it.
The update-manager also crashes on start.
FIX: starts up flawlessly with the english locale set, I had installed and used the Norsk Bokmål locale.
So probably a bug in the norwegian bokmål locale.
(Mint is installed in VirtualBox on MacOS but I don't think it has anything todo with this bug).

This is fixed in Raring/Mint 15 version of Synaptic (0.80), but I don't recommend installing it as it has some serious bugs. It's better to ask the maintainers to backport the fix to Quantal/Mint 14.
