Bug Description

== Rationale ==
LTSP is broken on Ubuntu 12.04.2 alternate because we only have the enablement stack on the media.

== Test case ==
1) Press F4
2) Choose LTSP
3) Install

== Regression potential ==
None that I can think of, the code will only use the lts kernel if it has no other alternatives. For existing users, the default 12.04 kernel will still be preferred.

--- original report ---

Testing on 12.04.2 alternate rc image (20130211), this seems to be a recurrence of bug #924897.

I'm having a bit of trouble extracting the log but will try to paste it as soon as I can, but the error messages in /var/log/syslog are the same:
Unable to locate package linux-image-generic
Configuring 'ltsp-client-builder' failed with error code 1

Steve Langasek (vorlon) wrote : Please test proposed package

Hello Paul, or anyone else affected,

Accepted ltsp into precise-proposed. The package will build now and be available at http://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ltsp/5.3.7-0ubuntu2.4 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug, mentioning the version of the package you tested, and change the tag from verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not fix the bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing will help us make a better decision.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in advance!

I can confirm that the md5 of the fixed script in the package that just built on LP matches that of the file I have in my working VM here (that I had to hand edit in the middle of a d-i install for testing).

I can't easily check that the rest of the package is regression free, but considering the diff only applies to this single file, that seems likely. We'll only be able to be 100% sure once we have a new media built from this and at this point we need it to be promoted to precise-updates for this to happen.

Marking verification-done, please bypass the 7 days waiting time on this one.

Steve Langasek (vorlon) wrote : Update Released

The verification of this Stable Release Update has completed successfully and the package has now been released to -updates. Subsequently, the Ubuntu Stable Release Updates Team is being unsubscribed and will not receive messages about this bug report. In the event that you encounter a regression using the package from -updates please report a new bug using ubuntu-bug and tag the bug report regression-update so we can easily find any regresssions.

This bug was fixed in the package ltsp - 5.3.7-0ubuntu2.4

---------------
ltsp (5.3.7-0ubuntu2.4) precise-proposed; urgency=low

  * Fix support for LTS backport kernels. (LP: #1122525)
    This means LTSP will install the lts-quantal kernels if no other
    alternatives are present on the media. It'll still favor -generic-pae
    and -generic over any backport kernel to avoid moving existing users
    to a new kernel on upgrades.
