New tab button sometimes open more tabs

When I click on "New tab" button in Chromium that opens 2-3 tabs, not only one tab. That appears some (90%) of time.

This also affects Chrome.

This happens to me as well, though rather than just two or three new tabs, it basically acts as a fork-bomb. I had to remove the executable bit on the binary to stop it from running completely out of control.

We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to review all reported bugs in a timely manner. You reported this bug in 2013 and there have been many changes in Ubuntu and Chromium since that time.

Presumably this problem was a one time occurrence and/or is no longer an issue? Can this bug report now be closed?

If we do not hear from you the bug report will close itself in approximately 60 days time.
