Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnomeradio

Okay I've seen this bug labeled as "Ignored" so I'm resubmitting it. I have a PVR2000 which has a cx88xx chip which was properly detected (once I added "cx88xx type=9" to the cxx88xx file on /etc/modprobe.d directory. Radio worked properly in Edgy even before I did this change so the card would be 100% recognized properly. I noticed somewhat poor performance on the tv video so I upgraded to Feisty which had the newest Nvidia drivers which worked great out of the box but I noticed that gnomeradio had issues: It would see the signal strength, responded to Stereo Vs. Monos signals, but I can get no audio. Its seems clear the signal detection is working, the device is picked up as /dev/radio0, can be read but no sound. Please do not ignore this as I'm seeing other reports coming in the Ubuntu community. There appears to be more info here:

http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=429005

I'll try the patch but if it does fix the issue there should be an update released through the official Ubuntu channels ASAP. Thanks.

A request for help from upstream:
------
I just commited an updated version of Jamesh's work to svn. I refactored it so
that now both api's (v4l and v4l2) are supported. gnomeradio will try v4l first
and then v4l2, if that fails. Probably it should be the other way round, but I
really don't know which API has better support. Alternatively a gconf-key
(/apps/gnomeradio/driver) can be used to specify the driver that can be used
(defaults to "any", "v4l1" and "v4l2" are other possible values).

It would be nice if someone could try this out, because I can't (don't have any
tuner hardware anymore).

I have a problem about the FM tuner, in which I cannot tune none radio station by the gnome-radio tunning controll, but noise and static is heard indicating that the tuner is detected when loading module cx88xx. My TV card is the Play TV Pro Ultra (card = 27, tuner = 38). The output of v4l-info to the device /dev/radio0 was attached to this message as a text file for analysis, as well as the dmesg output on my machine.
