I have the same card and gnomeradio is not working in 9.10 Alpha 6 64_bit. It just gives a static tone and can find no stations. I've tried several module parameters with no luck. Works fine in Windows.

I Confirm the bug. I have a usb Avermedia radio card. It is not working in 9.10 Beta (Karmic) with gnome radio. It gives a static noise and can find no stations. It was working fine in 9.04 (jaunty). It works in Karmic with Rhythmbox.

Wow, radio works here with rhythmbox, too (Karmic Beta). So it's a
gnomeradio bug...

Rhythmbox works normally (FM Radio plugin)

It happens with me too.
I wrongly filed a new Bug #450863. It is about the same problem as this one.
It has some more information about the problem.

In my case Rhythmbox with FM Radio plugin dosent work either

abujafar (abujafar) wrote :

maybe it would be sufficient to rebuild the package.

sAA7134 driver works only in 2.6.31.14 but only for TV, Radio in untunned despite you select a frequency, nothing happens only a noise is heard

Greg Eden (grege) wrote :

It appears to be a general issue. My Winfast 2000XP has stopped working as well, but not just Gnomeradio, also kradio, radio (ncurses), and every other program I tried except ....

It does work in Rhythmbox.

I have to agree it is related to the 2.6.31 kernel - something not compiled in? What does Rhythmbox do differently?

I also have a Winfast DTV2000H, same issue, works with Debian and 2.6.30 and Jaunty with a 2.6.30, but not with Karmic.

after upgrade i solved this problem so:
i chance the default driver "any" with "v4l2" witn gconf-editor (type in console)-->apps-->gnomeradio and here change value

The underlying cause of this bug (the kernel's V4L1 compatibility layer being broken for radio tuners) is being tracked in bug 475165.

Yes confirmed the bug, either gnomeradio, kradio, radio works after a unpgrade using 9.10 with 2.6.31-19-generic, will test rithmbox and the vfl2 fix and post results later.

ok, confirmed the fix, changing "any" for v4l2 in gnomeradio tree on gconf-editor works great, and also works rythmbox out of the box (he!!! I'nt know that RythBox support FM-Radio, but still not scan feature... bad thing... )

Using a Sabrent SBT-TVFM card (saa7124 card=42 in /etc/modprobe.d/tuner.conf) if it's important to anyone.

tvtime/xawtv/gnomeradio/radio/kradio working great.

sorry for the typo, must say:
("options saa7134 card=42" in /etc/modprobe.d/tuner.conf)

I get the same in Ubuntu 10.04 (Lucid) with Gnomeradio 1.8

The tuner is detected and device /dev/radio0 is created.

Stations can be scanned and are tuned.

Changing the default driver setting in GConf from "any" to "v4l2" doesn't work
:(

I have a usb Avermedia radio card. It was working fine in my old system with 9.10 (Karmic) with gnomeradio and Rhythmbox. I bought a new PC with AMD64 and it doesn't work any more neither in Karmic nor in Lucid with gnomeradio and Rhythmbox. It gives no noise and can find no stations. In Mixer Source doesn't appear anything.

Piotr Padkowski (piotrpad) wrote :

Same with my 10.04 - only static hiss can be heard, tuning and other contols seem to work normal. Changing driver form any to v4l1 or v4l2 doesn't help.

On 10.10 continues not working.

The problem is solved with Maverick 10.10

What kind of script do you have to execute gnomeradio?, because I have a script using OSS and OSS is deactivated on Maverick's kernel.

I haven't any script. Its OK without I do nothing. The first that i did
when iI upgraded in Maverick was to check if all is OK.
