Bug Description

suddenly my 12.04 can't boot normally this evening. everytime I boot it goes into tty terminal. can login just fine insisde terminal.
then try to run startx - it start to load a lot of process in terminal and stop without being able to get in X.

After few times of hard reset, I try to reinstall my ATI fglrx driver for HD77XX series from AMD (amd-driver-installer-catalyst-13.1-linux-x86.x86_64.run) the installation goes very well until the end, then I run startx in terminal. I've got into X windows but unity are not showing up. try to fire up untiy in terminal but the output are:
susahsebut@ubuntu-my:~/Desktop$ unity --version

As I can recall before this happen I've done some update and only few things that I remember the update was chrome, and lightdm. other than that I can't really remember. After those update I haven't reboot my machine untill today.

Hi Mr Jack Ramsay.
Thank you for your reply, regarding my problem it has been solved and i suspect the problem comes from my graphic card driver from AMD (downloaded from amd - amd-driver-installer-catalyst-13.1-linux-x86.x86_64.run - Hardware HD 7750) are not really compatible with 12.04 component. This thing happened after the update from update manager regarding lightdm are installed.

Once I've revert my driver back to - amd-driver-installer-catalyst-12.10-x86.x86_64 my ubuntu got back to normal. Re-confirmed it twice by changing the driver again to installer-catalyst-13.1-linux-x86.x86_64. I'm using amd-driver-installer-catalyst-12.10-x86.x86_64 only untill I've found new update from AMD site - amd-driver-installer-catalyst-13-4-x86.x86_64.

The only problem from amd-driver-installer-catalyst-13-4-x86.x86_64 are when i check my VGA controller from terminal using lspci it doesnt show me my graphic card model number.

susahsebut@ubuntu-my:~$ lspci | grep VGA
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] nee ATI Device 683f

with amd-driver-installer-catalyst-12.10-x86.x86_64 it shows me my hardware model (HD7750) I've tried using driver from Additional Drivers Tools ever since I start using HD7750 but not quite happy with the result.

Do you still need the apport logs as you wrote above? furthermore I've formatted my installation due tomy HDD re-arrangement so my current system are not actually the same as the time I'm filing this bug. (been 7 months already)
