Bug Description

During the installation process, I enter a FQDN name for my system
(wk.mille-mathias.info).
After the installation was finished, I saw the FQDN displayed by Ubuntu was
wrong at the motd, it was diplayed wk.mille-mathias.info.mille-mathias.info
If I type hostname -f, the result is localhost.localdomain
- In file /etc/mailname, the content is :
wk.mille-mathias.info
- In file /etc/hostname, the content is:
wk
- In file /etc/hosts, the content is :
127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost wk.mille-mathias.info wk
10.0.31.2 wk.mille-mathias.info.mille-mathias.info wk.mille-mathias.info
[snip]

I used the warty CD shipped that I order for the installation.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue for you? Can you try with latest Ubuntu release? Thanks in advance.

This bug was fixed in the package netcfg - 1.44ubuntu4

netcfg (1.44ubuntu4) intrepid; urgency=low

  * If we detect that the user entered a fully-qualified domain name as the
hostname, then remove the domain part from the hostname as well as
copying it to netcfg/get_domain (LP: #11019).
