The mouse cursor is actually rendered in the driver (and usually hardware for other drivers)

affects: unity (Ubuntu) → xserver-xorg-video-vesa (Ubuntu)

Can be easily reproduced with vga driver in KVM - the cursor is usually invisible when some part of the screen got redrawn.

Booting 12.04 in virtualbox seems to reproduce this issue, can you confirm ?. On some areas - hovering icons in System Prefs for example- make the cursor/pointer to disappear. on these areas the cursor appears again when moving it and disappear again when isn't moving. Please help :)

"on these areas the cursor appears again when moving it" => by "appears again", more precisely I mean "flickering while moving"

Running Precise within MGA G200eW (Dell R210 II) seems affected by this issue, running either with "mga" driver or VESA.
"nomodeset" option doesn't seems to affect the described issue, for which I've made a simple video:

Consequently many apps are affected by this issue.

I can confirm this bug also exists with Ubuntu 12.04 stock kernel on real hardware (no VM).
I am using an ATI 7750 card which is not supported by any more specific driver yet.

Please help. This is really annoying.

Thanks/Tom

Hi,

Based on my previous post, SiS 661GX chipset's integrated graphics also suffers from the cursor bug.
