mudlet won't allow me to paste text being copied from an outside program

Bug Description

So here's my problem: if I am in mudlet (using version 2.1) and on Windows 7 x64, I can copy and paste text just fine, both pasting to mudlet and to outside programs, however when I copy text, for example a URL in google chrome, and try to paste it into mudlet, it acts as if nothing is copied. However, if I then go to notepad and paste, it will paste just fine.

I know a few others who have the same issue...I'd really like to see this getting fixed, it's greatly hindering my ability to do my job on Aetolia.

You can paste urls or any other text from Chrome into Mudlet 2.1 on
windows 7 x64 just fine. I don't really understand your bug report. What
am I missing?

I cannot. Upon speaking with some other people on the IRC help channel
thing, there are others having the same problem. Apparently it's a rare bug
that doesn't allow pasting into mudlet from outside programs. I tried some
suggestions others gave me, such as copying/pasting into a different
program, such as notepad, then trying to copy several times before trying
to paste into mudlet. None of these suggestions have worked thus far.

As far as understanding my bug report....if I try to copy text from any
program OTHER THAN Mudlet, it will not allow me to paste the copied text
INTO mudlet. However, if I copy something IN mudlet, I can paste it
wherever.

I use ctrl+v, if I try to right click there is no paste.

If there is no paste in the menu, you need to focus the commandline
first -> click

Can you try this on another computer with Mudlet installed? Nobody else we
know of has this problem - maybe you have 3rd party software blocking it or
odd Windows settings.

Alright, I tried it on my wife's computer, she uses Mudlet 2.0 test 4 and
it copies/pastes just fine. I'm going to install the latest version of
Mudlet to see if that may fix it. However, this never happend until I
updated to 2.1, previously I used 1.2.0-pre5 and never had any such issues.
I'll get back to you!

Thank you for your assistance with this!

Please do the following to clarify the issue: left click on the command
line, then right click and use the "paste" action from the popup menu to
paste text.
What happens?

Nothing, if I'm copying something from, for example, notepad or pastebin.
If I copy something -from- Mudlet, I'm able to paste.

I am having the same problem. I have tried it with a fresh copy of Mudlet 2.1, I'm using the most current download available, with my current system loaded as well as with with absolutely nothing loaded.

If I am copying something from mudlet, I can paste it just fine outside of mudlet without issues. However, if I try to paste anything from OUTSIDE of mudlet, it will not paste. I have tried pasteing from Chrome, Firefox, notepad, etc. When I ctrl-v it will do a little blip as if it's trying to paste, but nothing shows. If I right click, paste is greyed out and has no option.

I brought this up on the Mudlet Clan on Achaea, and I wasn't the only one having the issue. He's lazy, though, so I'm adding this report for both of us.

I run Webroot SecureAnywhere (v8.0.4.42) for AV. I have Windows8, but I didn't do the update to 8.1. The only "setting" within Mudlet that I altered was unchecking MXP in special options because it wouldn't vinstall with that setting on.

...AAANNDD after disabling Webroot I can paste now. When I checked the monitored/active processes through WR, mudlet.exe is in the "monitored" section, instead of the "allowed". When looking into this a bit further, it was the specific "identify protection". When I disabled that protection, it worked again. I was able to find the application protection section that had both mudlet and raptr denied. Once I allowed mudlet, and renabled it, it worked.

Apparently it's a known issue with webroot, but it's not an issue, it's just that completely unknown programs, or ones that are constant threats, are disabled by default.

Huh, thanks for finding it!

Mudlet isn't under threats but it probably is unknown - we could help them
by signing the installer, I think - something to be done.
