Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1095445/+editstatus and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. This bug did not have a package associated with it, which is important for ensuring that it gets looked at by the proper developers. You can learn more about finding the right package at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage . I have classified this bug as a bug in compiz.

When reporting bugs in the future please use apport by using 'ubuntu-bug' and the name of the package affected. You can learn more about this functionality at https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs.

When the problem happens, please:

1. Log in to a virtual terminal: Ctrl+Alt+F1
2. Run: apport-collect 1095445
3. If #2 fails, please copy the file ~/.xsession-errors from your home directory manually. And attach the file here.

If none of those work or you don't know how, please start by providing photos of the error in question.

thank you all for replying. i must tell you i am very inexpierenced in any
linux system, but im desperately trying to follow your help. i tried
opening a terminal like you suggested...ctrl +alt + f1 i got a terminal
window and tried starting the logging file unity.log it just seems to
hang. however i did get a compiz failure msg. and then a window to report a
bug. i gave permission and sent it... dont laugh...i have no idea where it
went :) on the plus side of things i did find a way at the log in screen
to open a xfce session with a desktop enviourment by xubuntu v4.10 thats
what im using now. i ran a system test in that enviournment and sent to
<email address hidden>. im logged into that as mico@ubuntu: im
also going to try and attatch that report to this e-mail.. im sorry im not
very good at using a terminal...maybe you will have pity on me and still
try to help me ? again thank you., :) sean.

Thanks, that attachment suggests the problem with compiz is:

X Error of failed request: BadAlloc (insufficient resources for operation) Major opcode of failed request: 153 (GLX) Minor opcode of failed request: 3 (X_GLXCreateContext) Serial number of failed request: 32 Current serial number in output stream: 33

That makes it a duplicate of bug 1066764. There you will find a workaround however that workaround will make graphics quite slow. And even if this bug did not occur, you would find the experience very slow because your integrated Intel graphics are not advanced enough to handle Unity natively.

For the best Unity experience therefore you will need to install a graphics card. Or just stick to XFCE if it's working for you already.
