Bug Description

Binary package hint: gaim

I'm often (almost always) having problem with setting my status to invisible. The problem is, that gaim sometimes doesn't want to change the status, this error occurs sometimes also with other statuses. But with invisible status there is also another trouble, it seems I'm invisible (as gaim tells me), but people DO see me, and that's not what I want, and sometimes onle some people from my buddy list see me online (no, I don't mean those in my visible list, it has nothing to do with this right now). I have the latest kubuntu version, but this was happening also in the former version and it also goes like this on my xubuntu...

Yup, same deal here. This includes logging in/off, at times, which is obviously a problem.

Thank you for your bug report. Have you been able to reproduce this with an up to date Ubuntu system ?

I think I still get this problem. sometimes I change my status to/from
invisible from/to another status, and the icon that says whether the buddy
is blocked while I'm invisible still is by the buddy where it should not be,
or it is not everywhere it should be. But after clicking on that buddy, the
icon appears/disappears the way it should be.
A little worse is sometimes when I run pidgin, the previous status was
invisible so it should be the current now too, and yes it is written that
I'm inv, but there are no icons about blocked buddies, and I am visible. I
repair this by changing my status to online and then to inv, and then I
really begin to be inv (the problem with blocked-buddy-icon there still is).
And that's bad, because I want to start pidgin as really inv, and this way
I'm visible for a while..

I am also getting this problem. When can I expect it to be fixed?

I have this problem too. Starting pidgin with status "invisible" or changing the status to "invisible" does not work.
Everyone can still see me as logged in and they see that I try to be "invisible", which is annoying.

System is Ubuntu 9.04, Pidgin 2.5.5, Protocol ICQ.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu and Pidgin better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to look at all reported bugs in a timely manner. There have been many changes in Ubuntu and Pidgin since that time you reported the bug and your problem may have been fixed with some of the updates. If you could test the current Ubuntu and Pidgin development versions, this would help us a lot. If you can test it, and it is still an issue, we would appreciate if you could upload updated logs by running apport-collect <bug #>, and any other logs that are relevant for this particular issue.

Refer to http://developer.pidgin.im/wiki/FullChangeLog for more details
Newest version is 2.6.6
