Bug Description

Using a Dell Latitude E5400.

Description: Ubuntu Raring Ringtail (development branch)
Release: 13.04

Recently updaed the bcmwl-kernel-source package to 6.20. At that point, wifi stopped working, my CPU went to 100% with Networkmanager taking all of it, sudo did not work (making it extremely difficult to remove the package). I noticed that when installing the package, Xorg switched me over to a vterm, where a stack trace was shown.

Downgrading to the

 6.20.155.1+bdcom-0ubuntu2

package works great.

bcmwl-kernel-source:
  Installed: 5.100.82.112+bdcom-0ubuntu4
  Candidate: 6.20.155.1+bdcom-0ubuntu2
  Version table:
     6.20.155.1+bdcom-0ubuntu2 0
        500 http://mirror.anl.gov/pub/ubuntu/ raring/restricted amd64 Packages
 *** 5.100.82.112+bdcom-0ubuntu4 0
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

Not sure how I can capture more information to report without network access.

After upgrading ubuntu on Macbook 5,1 to raring, I had same issues described in this bug report: no wifi, sudo hangs, NetworkManager using 100% CPU, unable to shutdown/reboot gracefully.

In addition, connecting an ethernet cable to my laptop did not provide access to networking/internet which made it difficult to fix the problem.

In order to resolve this issue, I rebooted into recovery mode and downgraded bcmwl to quantal version 5.100.82.112+bdcom-0ubuntu3.

My laptop has Broadcom BCM4322.

After upgrading bcmwl-kernel-source to latest 6.20.155.1 raring version, 6.20.155.1+bdcom-0ubuntu5, everything is working fine again.

The latest release seems to have addressed my issue.
