Bug Description

Binary package hint: kaffeine

I installed Kubuntu Feisty Fawn on the release day and wanted to try out DVB-T in Kaffeine. DVB-T always worked for me in Edgy, but now strangly it stopped working. If I want to scan for channels in Kaffeine, it starts to scan, but freezes at 31-32%.

So I thought, "Hey, why don't I just go scan the channels in Edgy with Kaffeine?". I did that and of course it worked fine. I then took the /home/user/.kde/share/apps/kaffeine directory (has channels.dvb in it) from Edgy and replaced Kaffeine's same directory in Feisty with it.

Now that I had a channels list, without having to scan in Feisty, I thought everything was fine. I start Kaffeine in Feisty, click on the DVB Button and I see the channels. Now if i click on a channel, Kaffeine freezes again. So Kaffeines DVB function is useless in Feisty for me.

I am using:
-Kubuntu Feisty Fawn
-Skymaster DTMU-100 DVB-T USB(with Zarlink MT352 DVB-T Drivers, always worked in edgy)

Kaffeine in console:

Same problem but with Edgy. Kaffeine has worked without problems ans then it can not find the DVB-T card.

I have not had any problem in a long time. Cannot recall that I had problems in 7.10 and I'm since long running 8.04 without any problems. Haven't tried 8.10 yet.

For me it hasn't worked in any linux distribution since Kubuntu Edgy
Eft came out. I tried Fedora 9 with Kaffeine but that also gave me the
exact same error and behaviour. Was there something new or broken in
the kernel at the time after edgy came out or is it just my DVB-T
adapter? FYI my DVB-T adapter still works in Windows so I'm guessing
its not broken. The firmware available at linuxtv
(http://www.linuxtv.org/downloads/firmware/dvb-usb-umt-010-02.fw)
still works in Edgy (sometimes Edgy will complain the firmware is
missing so I have to put it in place manually).
I will give 8.10 beta a try in the next few weeks.

Finally my card (same old) works with kaffeine (0.8.6) out of the box on Ubuntu and Kubuntu 8.10.

FYI Kernel is 2.6.27-11-generic
