Bug Description

Binary package hint: adept

I tried to upgrade from Kubuntu Edgy to Kubuntu Feisty using adept.
The edgy-updates repositories were enabled but the upgrade button remained disabled.
So I tried to do the upgrade using the alternate CD and the command

gksu "sh /cdrom/cdromupgrade"

but then, a window with the message "Update tool crashed" showed up displaying the following contents:

As you can see these are two problems (I do not know wether they are related to each other):
the Adept problem and the Update Tool problem.

The solution is to install python-gpginterface package manually and restart the process:

sudo apt-get install python-gnupginterface
gksu "sh /cdrom/cdromupgrade"

Julio,

thanks for the bug report. Are you still having problems with this? If you are it will help to diagnose the problem if you could attach the log files from your upgrade. These can be found in /var/log/dist-upgrade. There should be 3 files there, if you could attach those that will help the developers find the source of the problem.

thanks,
Richard

reassigning package to adept following advice in #ubuntu-bugs. Also, the log files from the upgrade would be a big help if anyone has them, it's hard to do anything about this issue without more information.

thanks.
Richard

Your report seems a duplicate of 108364 that is better documented. Bug 108364 is considered a duplicate of 107451 by developers of update-manager. So I mark your report as duplicate of 107451. Feel free to report any other problem.
