Bug Description

Binary package hint: update-manager

I received this error upgrading from Edgy to Feisty using the Update Manager front-end. I did install some third-party libs concerning mutagen, but I'm pretty sure I got the original python-mutagen from the repos.

ProblemType: Package
Date: Fri Apr 20 09:23:41 2007
ErrorMessage:
ErrorMessage: subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 1
Package: python-mutagen
SourcePackage: mutagen

Thanks for your bugreport.

Can you please attach the files in /var/log/dist-upgrade ? This will help us diagnose the problem.

Thanks,
 Michael

I think you have manually installed new version mutagen, which includes files that are not in the old Ubuntu package (so it doesn't try to clean them). The easiest solution is:

sudo rm -r /usr/lib/python2.4/site-packages/mutagen
sudo apt-get install --reinstall python-mutagen

The problem file didn't exist in any previous Ubuntu release, so it's nothing to do with us.

I have the same problem!
It's really silly that I have to uninstall python-mutagen first, because all dependencies are removed, too...
