cannot select mp3 encoding

when you select the encoding / ripping settings in wither sound juicer or rhythmbox mp3 is not listed, if you press the edit button to the right of the selection box mp3 is listed, but if you look at properties or anything else for that matter the whole program well and truly freezes. on second thought im not sure its anything to do with gstreamer, but im sure this will put you on the right tracks for recreating the bug.

i have all 3 suggested gstreamer codecs installed.

Did you try the gstreamer good/bad/ugly and or the lame plugin?

You need the lame encoder to do that.

This is on Feisty? Can you post some more details if you have them? When did it last work, etc. I will check it out tonight...

There are two bugs here.
The first one is going to be fixed (See bug #84007) in feisty-updates and Gutsy.
So I put this as a duplicate of bug #124437, that is the issue of second bug (mp3 problem)
