audacity does not show application menu in xfce environment

Audacity does not show application menu in xfce environment. There is no way to access the menu.

This is apparently a known problem, so most probably this is a duplicate.

The workaround is to call audacity in the following way:

UBUNTU_MENUPROXY=0 audacity
