KARL Staff Can't Create Communities on OSPC KARL

OSPC has begun to use their KARL instance once again. Right now regular "KARL Staff" users can't add communities. Only "KARL Admin" users appear to be able to add communities. We need to figure out why KARL Staff aren't seeing their full set of permissions.

As admin visit one if their profiles and see if they have KarlAdmin checked for groups.

I believe OSPC is at 6FU. But why should KARLStaff need to have KARLAdmin checked? We just want them to have regular staff permissions, which includes the ability to create new communities...

If they *do* have KarlStaff checked and can't add a community, then something further needs to be checked.

Nat, can you confirm that users are in the KarlStaff group and can't add communities?

We'll have to figure out the logistics on this. They are 6FU customers so on a normal approach, they'd file the bug with 6FU. We don't have access to the server so we don't know what version of the software they are on, nor can we login and dig around.

Confirmed that users in the KARLStaff group can't add communities. I have reported this to SFU and they are looking into it. Paul, you are a KARLAdmin on the OSPC site though so if you do want to look at anything on the user side you can.

Ahh, I didn't realize I was an admin.

I just took a look. It appears that, somewhere along the line, the ACL (security settings) were changed to disallow KarlStaff from having those rights. If you compare these two URLs:

...you can see what I mean. (Screenshots attached.)

This should be easy for 6FU to fix. No software change involved. They can log in as an admin, visit the URL, and adjust the permissions.

I'll close this as the action is for them.
