Project saved to default folder, not to a selected one

1. Start OSVE, load video tracks.
2. Click on save button, enter name, select video type, select desired target directory. Click save button.
3. Look in to that directory. Do you see project file? I didn't, but found it in in my home (which is the defaultdir to OSVE).
4 Try to save as, select the the same target directory (=repeat it). OSVE reports "File already exists" - but in the default (home), not in selected dir.

The result - I was not able to save project in another dir than my home dir (= default dir).

After step 2, I found the project file in the expected directory, so this is something I can't reproduce. I'm using 1.4.3.

I can confirm this for Ubuntu 12.10, OpenShot 1.4.3. Projects always saves in home dir, regardless of choice. Even when using Save As..., or when copying the project file to the desired directory manually, upon Save/Save As... project file always ends up in my home directory.

Are you sure there's not any other steps needed to reproduce this? Every time I do a Save As..., the project ends up where I expect it to (on Linux Mint 13).

This may be a duplicate of Bug #1043083. I've got the same issue under 12.10. I'll see if I can capture video of my desktop demonstrating the problem.

I think the break-down for both bugs is when saving using "Other..." So Openshot will show a standard list of places to save the video (Videos folder, Desktop, etc). Saving to those seem OK. When selecting "Other...", Openshot seems to ignore it.

Here's a video demonstrating saving it to the Desktop and to my Video folder from the default list, and then trying to save it using "Other..." to a new directory. Openshot will complain that it's already got a file in there with the same name, because it's still trying to save to my Video folder.

Well now this is interesting... I do what I usually do when I finish my church's video - I open the .dvd from Openshot into DeVeDe and save it to an ISO for burning. Guess what... DeVeDe didn't honor my save directory choice either! I'll see if there's an Ubuntu bug regarding this...

Openshot just uses the folder that is returned by the folder dialog, so it would make more sense if the bug is within that, i.e. it returns the wrong folder under certain circumstances.

Agreed - DeVeDe reliably does the same (incorrect) behavior. Both OpenShot and DeVeDe seem to use a simplified folder/save dialogue box. What I mean is that it displays a simplified list unless you click "Other..." and then it displays the normal folder/save dialogue. Andy, do you know what package handles these two dialogues? I'm trying to file a bug report upstream to Ubuntu, but they want a specific package name. I suspect it's a Gnome issue, but again, I don't know exactly what to file it against. Any suggestions?

I don't know what the exact package name would be, but the control that is used to display the folder dialog is the GtkFileChooserButton, which is in the GTK+ library.
