Bug Description

When a network printer is selected during printer install in switchboard, user isn't asked for driver options and location/name. The printer is installed with an incorrect profile (i.e. no ip address or host name, model, location, etc). The installed printer is useless. This issue may be related to the fix for

That fix or some other recent change in the handling of printers had the nasty effect of deleting all already installed printers.

gnome-control-center is the only way I find to install a printer correctly.

In addition, lock button seems to be a no-op. Neither locks, nor unlocks.

Unfortunately these GCC plugs are just an unmaintainable hack that we're planning to replace in Luna +1 anyways. So marking as won't fix.

However if someone comes along with a fix in the meantime, please feel free to let us know about it :)

Unity uses some other GCC thing to set up printers, not the Gnome Shell one. Maybe it will work?

I've always had to run system-config-printer to properly install network
printers in Luna.
