This is from a new Samsung Series 5 (530U) Ivy Bridge ultrabook. The ACPI information about battery status and laptop lid status is incorrect. They only reflect the state of the notebook at boot, and do not show (via /proc/acpi or other means) state changes such as:
- plugging or unplugging the AC adaptor
- charging status
- closing or opening the laptop
Laptop brightness controls were also affected, but testing with the latest Quantal backport kernel (3.5.0-14.15~precise1) shows that this has been fixed. The other issues mention above are all still present in Quantal as well.
