Bug Description

Desired behavior: Select any tag and press delete button of keyboard.
Expected Result: The tag is deleted, i.e. tag is removed from all tasks, reset its parameters like color, hiding/showing in workview and remove from tag sidebar.

We have a similar implementation for Delete tasks, where delete task dialog box is shown whenever we press delete button after selecting task(s).

Please, describe the desired behavior more precisely. Best practice for
that is to describe the step to reproduce the bug, and the expected
outcome, e.g.:

1) Step 1
2) Step 2

Result: A
Expected Result: B

This is a wishlist and hence no steps to reproduce , but this is how I want it to work

Select any tag and press delete button of keyboard.
Expected Result: The tag is deleted.

We have a similar implementation for Delete tasks, where delete task dialog box is shown whenever we press delete button after selecting task(s).

I updated the description of this bug. What should happen when you delete a tag? Should associated tasks:

a) be deleted
b) tag should be removed from those tasks

What do you think?

For what is worth, as Nimit I would also expect behavior (b)

We could always keep a prompt box with 3 buttons.
(a) Cancel
(b) Delete all tasks with the tag
(c) Remove the tag from all associated tasks.

Nimit> No, that's "forbidden" in GTG world! GTG philosophy is to reduce complexity for the user when needed. Don't show dialogs unless necessary. For example when you enter date in wrong fromat in the editor, the field is red but without an annoying dialog.

It would be against GTG philosophy :)

Just noticed, in gmail, when we remove a label, it removes it from the mails and then deletes it. So I guess, that would be a standard behaviour.

I gave it some thought today and I realized that we donot need to remove the tag from the list of tags, we simply need to remove it from the associated tasks.
The benefit would be that we will still have the tag in autocomplete the next time a user wants to use it.

Hi Saurabh,
Sagar recently assigned this bug to himself and had done some bit of coding for it. I would say that you move on to some other bug.
