Bug Description

Linux Mint 13 Xfce Edition.

If I press the "mute" key on my keyboard, it deactivates the sound. But if I press it once again, it does NOT reactivate it. If I reactivate it manually, I can mute it again, of course.

It DOES show the nice animation in the top right corner correctly (off-on-off-on etc.), but nothing happens with the volume-applet in the low menu bar (only off, not on again).

Yet no chance to reproduce it on a different computer, but it seems to me that the recognition is not the problem, but giving the information to the desktop environment.

See : https://bugs.launchpad.net/xfce4-volumed/+bug/883485

-> issue comes from default configuration of xfce4-volumed (it doesn't connect to the appropriate sound card)

A good workaround is to modify conf file (see post #3)

oups, was to forget : affects XFCE on both Ubuntu and Debian editions
as Pho3nix is on Mint13 and I'm on LMDE

-> not sure it is a Mint, Ubuntu or Debian issue... Might be upstream directly from XFCE
Anyway, the workaround indicated above works.

affects: linuxmint → xfce4-volumed

This happened to my machine after upgrading from 12.04 to 14.04.

The xfce4-settings hack fixed it. Why would upgrading trigger this bug?
