JAlexoid, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. If you could also please test the latest upstream kernel available that would be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please do not test the kernel in the daily folder, but the one all the way at the bottom. Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. As well, please comment on which kernel version specifically you tested.

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag: 'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, for example it will not boot, please add the tag: 'kernel-unable-to-test-upstream', and comment as to why specifically you were unable to test it.

Please let us know your results. Thanks in advance.

I'm getting the same issue, and it seems like it only appeared after upgrading to kernel 3.2.0-26.41 (Ubuntu 3.2.0-26.41-generic 3.2.19). Every now and then my system hangs completely for about half a second (I mostly notice it because of my music stopping).

I get the following message every now and then in my dmesg logs:

[ 3216.998103] type=1701 audit(1343888944.043:42): auid=4294967295 uid=1000 gid=1000 ses=4294967295 pid=2819 comm="chrome" reason="seccomp" sig=0 syscall=83 compat=0 ip=0x7fdb73fa2e47 code=0x50002

This is without specifically high load on my machine. I also have an SSD for my root volume (OCZ Agility 3).

I just upgraded to kernel 3.2.0.27.29. If this does not fix the issue, I'll test with the mainline kernels.

Mailnine 3.4 and 3.5 kernels seems to not have this issue. They crash, but do not freeze the system.

JAlexoid, hmmmm seems somewhat inconclusive. To provide a better datapoint, did this problem occur in a release of Ubuntu prior to Precise?

Hello,

I've got a Dell studio 1558 and I experience the same bug and the same log ("rsyslogd-2039").
Running Ubuntu 12.04 (3.2.0-27).
It seems to happen while the laptop is in heavy load but I'm even not sure (kind of random). It seems to happen by bursts as well: for 30 minutes, it would crash every five minutes and then be stable for hours... (maybe more frequent when booting due to heavay load when booting?).
In consequence, it tend to make my system very unstable.

Is there any workaround yet ?
Good luck with it,
Thank you

This seems to affect me as well. The symptoms: under heavy load (while chrome is running, although I'm not sure it's related) the disk light starts be on constantly (rather than flashing) and after 2-3 minutes without disk access the computer freezes completely.

Some more details:
Linux cdman-BIG 3.2.0-32-generic #51-Ubuntu SMP Wed Sep 26 21:33:09 UTC 2012 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
