Bug Description
Octave could not be installed properly during the upgrade to 12.04.
I tried to remove octave-* and reinstall octave, but the error persists
When I run octave from the terminal anyway, I get this error message:

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and trying to help make Ubuntu better. However, it appears this problem may be occurring because of an Octave Forge package that is not provided by Ubuntu. The error message refers to symbolic-1.1.0, but the version of octave-symbolic in Ubuntu 12.04 is 1.0.9. Can you verify whether the package is owned by an Ubuntu package or was installed locally?
Please run: octave/ packages/ 3.2/*-* /usr/share/ octave/ packages/ 3.2/*-*
dpkg -S /usr/lib/
to determine which Octave packages are and are not installed from supported Ubuntu packages.
