The character "u" and "U" become thinner in some cases. This bug is fixed in version 1.07.2-1.

Here's the fix taken from Debian:
fonts-liberation (1.07.0-2ubuntu0.1) precise-proposed; urgency=low
* Fix hinting problem of Liberation Sans Bold character "u"
at particular point sizes (Closes: #616620, LP: #1022352).
* Fix Glyph '1' not the same width as other numerals.
