Search box stores no more than one letter

Bug Description

Occasionally when typing in the search box, only the first letter shows up and subsequent letters overwrite the first, both visually and functionally.

IE. if I try to type "files" to search for the app Files, it searches for "f" then for "i" then for "l" then for "e" then for "s". I can't enter in more than one letter.

This renders Slingshot's search entirely useless.

I can confirm; I can also add that the search box does not have a blue outline in such cases, so it doesn't seem to be focused. I tried to capture a screencast but accidentially got my LiveCD environment erased and couldn't reproduce it later.

I think it's probable that Tom's fix has accidentally fixed this bug as well. Has anyone managed to reproduce this bug after revision 249?

Ok, since no one has reported this happening again I'm marking it as fixed. If someone still manage to reproduce it, please re-open.

This bug doesn't seem to be fixed. There is a way to trigger it (at least it always works for me):
1.Open slingshot with super+space
2. Move the mouse over an icon in slingshot (ex: Files).
3. Close slingshot with super+space without moving the mouse.
4. Open slingshot again with super+space (without moving the mouse)
5. Now type something and you will see that the bug is still there.

This bug is fixed. It seems that on holding the super key the focus moves to the slingshot's search box.

Are you really sure that this bug is fixed? I can still reproduce it in the latest daily builds of elementary OS with the steps above. I joined a video showing the steps.

It's sad that it came back, can you find a way to reproduce it or it seems
random?

This bug was never fixed, I reopened this bug a month ago with a step by step guide to reproducing this bug (in a comment above), but it was put back to fix released for a reason I still don't understand. Anyway, I also added a video of the bug in another comment ("BugSlingshot.mp4"). I can still reproduce it with the same steps.

Simon, I'm deeply sorry, I don't how I could have missed your comments. Sadly the procedure you posted doesn't trigger it for me, but I've managed to reproduce it on my machine all the same. I'm really busy lately, but I'll try to fix as soon as possible. Sorry again for missing your comments :(

Ok, I've pushed a commit that partially fixes the bug: this bug still happens, but when it does you can still type, even though keyboard doesn't move focus. So, I'm marking this as fixed and reporting the related bug.
