Bug Description

When installing our project's .deb package (https://launchpad.net/stream2ip v 0.3.6) via USC in 12.10 alpha 2 we get the following output:

2012-07-03 22:42:03,881 - softwarecenter.backend - WARNING - _on_trans_error: Transaction failed: The package is of bad quality
 Lintian check results for /home/takkat/Downloads/stream2ip-0.3.6_all.deb:

2012-07-03 22:42:03,954 - softwarecenter.backend - ERROR - error in _on_trans_finished 'Error: The package is of bad quality

'
2012-07-03 22:52:21,722 - softwarecenter.db.pkginfo_impl.aptcache - INFO - aptcache.open()

There is no further information to help improving our package's quality to meet the USC standards. Lintian check results are empty.

The above package installs without warnings in 12.04 and earlier.

We tested for other .deb packages downloaded from official Ubuntu repositories:

abiword_2.9.2+svn20120603-1_amd64.deb
ffmpeg_0.8.3-0ubuntu1_amd64.deb
audacious_3.2.3-1_amd64.deb

All give `The package is of bad quality' error on installing via USC.

Hi Takkat, and thanks for your report. In the dialog that is displayed, did you expand the "Details" item? This should provide more specific information about what in the package is causing the quality failure.

Please let us know. And thanks!

The `details' box doesn't say more than when run from command line:

Lintian check results for </path/to/package.deb>

We still see this message when installing any DEB in USC. May it be related to Virtual Box? Do you need any additional information?

It is not related to virtual box. I'm running beta 2 on my laptop and I've gotten that error for all three debs I've tried to install (Chrome, libdvdcss2, and Dropbox).
